A friend of mine and fellow Malice member found this and sent me the link this morning.
At Imaginarium 2017 you will have the opportunity to meet great writers like Mystery and Paranormal Romance author Kristi Bradley! It's strange. Who is this person? I used to turn around in grocery stores if I saw an acquaintance just so I wouldn't have to risk speaking to them.
No, I'm not a snob.
I am an introvert. It's difficult for me to make and maintain conversation. Always has been. Get to know me, tho, and all bets are off.
Yet here I am making appearances all over town and presenting a workshop on Creating a Villainous Antagonist at the Imaginarium Convention next weekend in Louisville, KY. I write better than I speak, as made evident last night while filming Dark Oak Press & Media's first writing seminar. You'd think as the president of Malice in Memphis, I'd be used to standing before a crowd and talking.
No. It's a brand new experience each time. But I do it. Know why? Because I have a stories to tell and in order to build a readership, you have to do things you might not want to. I believe in Malice in Memphis and what it stands for, which means I want to assist other writers toward to goal of publication by sharing what I've learned over the years. So, you have to put yourself "out there" for people to poke and prod. It's not easy, but if you believe in something, you will do whatever necessary to make it happen. You have to step outside the box. One friend of mine told me I hadn't just stepped outside the box, I blew the mother up. Yeah. And it won't be rebuilt. I kinda like it out here.
The saying goes, never say never. There's a loop hole. NEVER give up.
You can find me Saturday, September 30th at the Germantown library from 2 to 4. Myself and fellow Dark Oak authors Robert Krog, Pat Sawtelle and Wes Yahola will be on hand with books for sale. We might even discuss the mid-south through our fiction if there's enough interest.
Find me at the Imaginarium Convention in Louisville October 6 - 8.
